Lovers of old-school r&b gather by the booty-load to dance, disrobe, and get it on when southern soul rocker Cory Phillips brings his summer love groove-in to the heart of the city.
Phillips is a moody jet-setter and a sultry tenor who lights dangerous fires with rare poetry and on-stage flair. His touring support group is made up of some of Los Angeles’ best session and touring players, many of whom have the grease to become known in mama’s kitchen’s everywhere themselves. The live groove they bring keeps you dancing to a sweat with relentless groove, and then soft through some of the most poetic and smooth ballads you will have ever heard.
His music is all original, but so classic, you’ll think you should know each of them. He takes you on a musical cruise with his Family Stone, Motown rock tones around the corner into deep, midnight-radio scorching funk rock songs you can’t get out of your head.
Phillips has spent his life listening to and collecting music like a librarian tends the knowledge in her books. His style of writing and composing has changed and evolved over the years as he’s played without ever releasing an album of his own. He’s written scores of almost iconic folk and southern rock songs in his days in Lawrence, Kansas, back when Led Zeppelin, the Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell, and Pink Floyd occupied his consciousness.

Since moving to Los Angeles, his style has gradually evolved into more of a Rhythm and Rock vibe, influenced by some other greats: Marvin Gaye, Jamiroquai, Curtis Mayfield, Otis Redding, Isaac Hayes, and Earth, Wind, & Fire.
You’ll hear the soul of all of these masters and more as you enjoy an unforgettable, incendiary evening of blue-eyed soul with L.A.’s newest, bravest, and baddest. Keep an eye out this spring and summer along the West Coast for his tour to support his debut release on Thermal Records. Dude, that's awesome. About time you got these discs out for public consumption, is what I'm saying. People are going to get their hands on this, tell everyone they know, and so on till no label, regardless of a worthless recession, will be hands off. Rock on, bro! Can't wait to get me one!!
